Understanding ISPM 15 Guidelines

The International Standards For Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15) were developed by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) to address the treatment and transportation of wood products greater than 6mm (1/4”), including pallets and crates.

These guidelines ensure that all wood packaging products used to ship goods between countries are debarked and heat-treated to stop the spread of disease and insects. ISPM 15 regulations govern all aspects of production, from procurement through to final product marking. Regular inspections by the governing authority are conducted to verify compliance with the program. Once the shipping products are properly treated, they will be stamped or branded to show compliance.
